November 2009

Open Studio

Saturday 28th Nov and Sunday 29th Nov

11 am - 4 pm

You are warmly invited to the November exhibition of new work by Cheryl Howeld at Field House.

Also on show are a selection of fine watercolours by Bridget Woods, new oils by Ann Heat and a collection of ceramics from Sian Van Driel. Bridget’s work sings with clear, vibrant and expressive colour. You see the sureness of touch (that comes from 30 years of exhibiting and teaching) both in her landscapes and the life studies which are the subject of her book. Ann’s work will be known to many of you from the London galleries. It has a lyrical delicacy of quiet observation, be that of autumn sunlight on a field of cows or a careful selection of colours and textures in a studio still life. Sian’s classic pots, smoke fired by the Raku process have all the delicacy and subtle colouring of owls feathers……. so desirable that I had to have one myself.

Cheryl’s new work is as varied as ever ranging from the small image of a freshly varnished wooden boat moored in shallows to the large canvas of ‘Shadows on the Wall’, that is on the front cover of the card. Oil sketches of summer bathers on raw linen or a little panel of drying herbs in the summerhouse all speak of the delight of ordinary daily things. Some of it will transfer to Wimbledon Fine Art after the exhibition at Field House. Come and enjoy light refreshments as you browse through the latest work.

Sculpture Garden Opening in Wimbledon Village at 33 Church Road, Wimbledon Village, London SW19 5DQ

A new, original and innovative collection of three dimensional pieces for outside spaces mark the latest development in Cheryl’s work. Newly refurbished, the garden is secreted away behind the wedding shop ‘Luella’s Boudoir’ in what was the Churzee Gallery premises. The old garden walls now display hand worked lead wall reliefs and small bronze sculptures emerge from shrubs in the raised beds. As well as these affordable smaller pieces, Cheryl will also show examples of site specific installations where larger pieces have been designed and built in situ. Commissions for this work can be arranged.
