By far the largest number of requests are for children’s portraits.
Naturalistic and perceptive, the emphasis is on informality.

Cheryl works easily with children of all ages using the camera to catch relaxed moments. Flash photography is never used, partly to keep the children as un-selfconscious as possible but also because natural light shows form better when it comes to the painting.

Apart from providing reference this session gives the opportunity to get the feel for the subject. The parents are then consulted in a review of the photographs and to make a joint decision on which to use as a basis for the portrait. From this point on, the feel for the subject comes into play informing the development from photograph to fully realized portrait. …’absolutley wonderful portrait of Harvey. I am so pleased with it – you have captured him perfectly……..and to keep it hidden ’til Christmas will be torture!!’

“We commissioned Cheryl to draw a portrait of our daughter Francesa. Cheryl drew a superb pastel that not only captured her looks but really showed her personality, we were delighted.Cheryl was so calm with Francesca and spent the time to get to know her so that she was able to capture her qualities.

We are very happy to recommend Cheryl who gave us a wonderful portrait.”
