Light Path River Test (133 x 150 cm)Commissions arise from clients seeing Cheryl’s work and wanting a painting with that particular quality for a particular space in their house.

A site visit brings an understanding of the character of the space, the house and its surroundings, all of which will affect the final work.

The subject, colours and shape of the painting will all be related to the place that the painting is designed to suit.

A modal system of composition relating to the Octave is used to harmonise with the proportions of the space to be filled. Preliminary sketches and reference material are provided for approval before work begins.

The site specific nature of these paintings brings together elements of the room and its environment and provides a uniquely apt and individual focus to the space.

Apple Bough (150 x 50-cm)

“There are lots of reasons for us to be thrilled with this painting. It precisely evokes our garden in springtime, when our huge crab apple is crowned by a profusion of delicate pink flowers; it draws the garden into the sitting room and echoes the colours of furnishing; its triptych design has a meditative quality and – of course – is painted with the sensitivity and optimism of all Cheryl’s work.”
